St. Landry Parish Government announces the hiring of Caryn Fulop as their new finance director. Fulop’s first day on the job was Tuesday.
Fulop is originally from the Republic of Panama and moved to Louisiana in 1991.

A candle-lighting ceremony was held at the Langley Cemetery to remember and pray for loved ones on Saturday. Many ancestors of the surrounding communities including Eunice, Basile, Iota, Crowley, Elton, Jennings are buried in the cemetery. LSUE’s first chancellor honored

A ceremony was held Tuesday at LSU Eunice to celebrate renaming the Acadian Center to the Dr. Anthony Mumphrey Center.
Mumphrey helped found LSUE and was its first chancellor.
Also present was LSU President William Tate and Mumphrey’s family.
The keynote speaker was State Rep. Phillip DeVillier.

Trail ride to benefit Eunice Community Health Center

The COVID pandemic reached into nearly every corner of the community, but for the Eunice Community Health Center it nearly cut off its lifeblood of fundraising.
The center provides a variety of free medical services that include medications and supplies. The center also provides low-cost lab work.

Tri-Parish workforce down

The Tri-Parish workforce in September totaled 67,341, down 2% or 1,474 from year ago, according to statistics released by the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
The September workforce in each parish declined compared to a year ago.
The workforce counts the employed and those seeking jobs.

Pistol-packing teens charged

Two juveniles are charged with possessing a .380-caliber semi-automatic pistol on Eunice Junior High School property.
A photo of one of them holding a pistol circulated and made its way to the principal, said Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot.

Police: Stray bullet strikes woman

A stray bullet struck a 25-year-old woman in the left hand early Tuesday morning as she drove a car on South Mallet near Anne Avenue.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said the woman was treated at Acadian Medical Center and was transferred to a Baton Rouge hospital.
