Parish Council moves forward with plant tax exemption

A plant that is to employ 55 to 65 people at salaries from $40,000 to $60,000 a year is under consideration for a 5-year tax exemption. The St. Landry Parish Council Administrative-Finance Committee approved sending the exemption to the full Council meeting on Oct. 20.

Vidrine named professor emeritus at LSUE

Dr. Malcolm Vidrine has been awarded the honorary title of professor emeritus, it was announced on Wednesday. Vidrine has served in an academic role at LSU Eunice for 37 years.

‘Parent choice’ quarantine rejected

St. Landry Parish School Board members rejected a parent choice quarantine option urged by Dr. Cade Brumley, state superintendent of Education. “The first thing I would like to know is the superintendent of education in Baton Rouge is he a scientist?” asked Board member Milton Ambres.
