Charles “Coonie” Ardoin passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the age of 83. No Services have been planned at this time. Charles is survived by two sons, Charles “Scott” Ardoin, Jean Paul “JP” Ardoin; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and Tommy Ardoin, a special family friend.

Longtime judge, John Saunders, dies

One of Evangeline Parish’s elder statesmen, who served as state senator and as a judge on the Third Circuit Court of Appeal, passed away on Monday at the age of 78. At the time of his death, John Saunders was near the end of his third term on the appellate court.

Cleco bill complaint aired at city meeting

A rise in electric bills from Cleco this recently brought a complaint from one Eunice resident at Tuesday’s city meeting. Tanya McGee said some bills from Cleco doubled and even tripled. “My concern is not personally for myself. My concern is for the elderly on fixed incomes,” she said.

The VFW Post 8971 bingo has a $10,000 jackpot waiting for some lucky player. “I fully expect it to hit in the next four to five weeks,” said VFW Commander Donnie Fontenot. Bingo games are held every Thursday and Sunday at the post on U.S. 190 East. The doors open at 4 p.m.
