Ornamental grasses are some of the best plant selections for an ornamental focus for the landscape, but they are often underutilized. In addition to being an excellent choice for their aesthetic appeal, ornamental grasses are great for wildlife, especially birds.

Train buffs and the curious gathered along the tracks in Eunice as Big Boy No. 4014, the famed Union Pacific steam locomotive built in the 1940s to conquer mountains while carrying equipment in support of World War II, passed through Eunice on Thursday. The scenes are near the La. 13 crossing.

A Eunice man faces two charges of aggravated crime against nature involving a 9-year-old boy and a third-degree rape charge against an adult female. Jacob Randel Moon, 36, of the 1500 block of Highway 190, is charged with two counts of aggravated crime against nature and third-degree rape. St.

Voter registration week begins Monday

Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin is joining registrars of voters across the state the week of Aug. 23 to 27 to hold Voter Registration Week activities aimed at registering Louisiana citizens to vote. The St. Landry Parish Registrar of Voters Office will hold voter registration events on Aug.

School location before funding

I have one concern, why are Board members arguing about the proposed locations of schools before the tax is voted on? The Board should realize that arguing about the locations at public meetings gives the voters a reason to conclude that common sense is not being applied to this situation.
