The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. June 17 Kari Danielle Ganson, 30, 400 block of Ollie Street, Melville. Bench warrant. Arrested by St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Alex Joseph Bowman, 25, 400 block of Wiltz Road, Krotz Springs.

On campus: Students honored at colleges, universities

LSUE Chancellor’s List LSU at Eunice named 339 students to the Spring Semester 2021 Chancellor’s List in recognition of their academic achievement. The list, which comprises full-time students who maintained at least a 3.5 grade-point average on a 4.

Southern bacterial wilt causing problem in Louisiana vegetables

Weeks of wet weather in Louisiana has led to damage from one of the most serious diseases of crops such as tomatoes, eggplant and bell peppers. LSU AgCenter plant doctor Raj Singh said the disease is called southern bacterial wilt and is caused by the soil-borne bacterium Ralstonia solanacearum.

I find it interesting that Democrats are ganging up on Joe Manchin. It’s not exactly surprising, since the West Virginia senator hasn’t been a team player for a while, despite the fact that he is not now and never will be a Republican.

Covid has Catholic schools on the rebound

In 1970 some 4.4 million students attended Catholic elementary and secondary schools in America. Last year only about 1.6 million students attended Catholic schools, and lay teachers have almost completely replaced priests, brothers and nuns which has driven up the cost of tuition.

159th Fighter Wing Airmen from across Louisiana gathered at the Air Dominance Center in Savannah, Ga., for their annual training, June 6 – 11.

Aiden Young

Aiden Michael Young passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at the age of 14. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home of Eunice with Bubba Gotreaux officiating. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery.
