A two-vehicle wreck occured at the intersection of U.S. 190 East and St. Mary Street at about 1:37 p.m. Thursday. According to Eunice Police Sgt. Joey Fontenot, the accident occurred when a GMC Yukon heading south on North St. Mary failed to yield at the stop sign, and came across the intersection.

Council may get ordinance to protect parish roads

A ordinance intended to protect parish roads from damage by utility companies may be brought to the St. Landry Parish Council in June. An item on the Council’s agenda on Wednesday requested Garrett Duplechain, the Council’s attorney, to draw up an ordinance with fines for damaging parish roads.

Quest to buy parish-owned property continues

One woman’s quest to buy dilapidated property from St. Landry Parish may be nearing a conclusion. At Wednesday’s Parish Council meeting, Jennifer Cravins, of Lawtell, returned to inquire about a dilapidated and abandoned house.

4th person arrested for January shooting

A fourth person was arrested for a drive-by shooting that occurred on Jan. 3. Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said Frank James Dupre Jr., 23, of the 1100 block of North Vivian Avenue, Eunice, was arrested Thursday for attempted first-degree murder.
