St. Landry Parish jury convicts man of first-degree murder for killing girlfriend

An Opelousas man was convicted of first-degree murder for killing his girlfriend. According to St. Landry Parish District Attorney Chad Pitre, John Edmond Jr. was found guilty by a jury that deliberated several hours on Friday. Edmond was arrested on March 23, 2018, for the death of Grace Noel.

Bridge closed on La. 3116

Effective immediately, the bridge on La. 3116, 0.9 miles north of La. 3123, will be closed for repairs until further notice, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. The detour will consist of La. 13 and La. 3123. The detour will be posted.
