A day I will never forget

It was a Wednesday, April 25, 2018, when I received a call at work from my older brother. I could tell immediately in his voice that he was upset and advised me to get to my dad’s house fast.

Spending money turns into hard work for School Board

A tax proposal and spending about $30.3 million in COVID-19 relief money consumed most of a five and half hour meeting Monday of St. Landry Parish School Board committees.

St. Edmund Spring Fair returns starting Friday

St. Edmund School celebrates 55 years of its annual Spring Fair. Last year, with COVID-19 restrictions the fair was not held. The fun weekend begins Friday and concludes Sunday at 6 p.m. The fair rides are open to the public from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.

National Day of Prayer set May 6

The National Day of Prayer will be observed at noon, Thursday, May 6 at the Eunice City Hall parking lot area. The public is invited. For more information, call the Rev. Caleb Semien at 457-2891.

Concert Band, Choir rehearsals set

The Eunice Community Concert Band and Choir will begin rehearsals on May 10 for the choir and May for the 11 band for their 31st Anniversary Concert, “Be Our Guest.” Concert dates are July 15 and 16. For more information call 337-457-1776.

Free Hula Hoop Class at the Garden

There will be a free Hula Hoop Class at the Eunice Community Garden on May 15. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The class begins at 9:15 a.m. The first 100 children will receive a Free Hula Hoop to bring home. Parents are asked to stay with their children during the entire fun event.

Daily rosary to begin in May

Beginning May 1 and throughout the month of May, Court Eunice 208, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, will be praying a daily rosary at 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to join in the rosary garden in front of St. Anthony Church Rectory, located at 310 W. Vine St.

CDA meeting set for May 3

Court Eunice 208 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Monday at the Jeanmard Hall, at North 3rd Street. All members are encouraged to attend and to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Eunice Food Bank New membership is always open.
