More active hurricane season again in 2021: Colorado State forecasters

Expect another more active hurricane season in 2021, with 17 named storms, including eight hurricanes, with four of those being major, Category 3 or above, climatologists with the Colorado State University Tropical Weather and Climate Research team said Thursday.

Opelousas man killed in crash; vehicle ends up in Bayou Teche

PORT BARRE – A single-vehicle crash on La. 103 near Cheramie Road near Port Barre at about 2 p.m. Wednesday took the life of 46-year-old Avery Charles Hudson of Opelousas, according to a Louisiana State Police Troop I news release.

Ville Platte man sentenced

LAFAYETTE — Eric J. Richard, 42, of Ville Platte, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge James D. Cain, Jr. to 71 months (6 years, 11 months) in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute cocaine.
