Clarice Roy Quirk

Clarice Roy Quirk passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the age of 99. A Graveside Service was held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 1 p.m. at St. Louis Cemetery for immediate family. A private family visitation was held from 10 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home of Eunice.

John “Elvey” Gradney, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the age of 73. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at (time pending approval) on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Duralde with Father Hampton Davis officiant.

CDA meeting set for Monday The Catholic Daughters of Americas (CDA) will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Jeanmard Center. Members are asked to bring a canned good to continue to make donations to the Eunice Food Bank.

Don’t give in to the pot decriminalization culture

Tom Wolf, lame-duck governor of Pennsylvania, announced on Twitter that he wanted the commonwealth to legalize pot. His comment was hailed as timely, necessary and courageous by many of his lame-duck followers on social media.

In D.C., politics springs eternal

Springtime has arrived in Washington, D.C. The National Cherry Blossom festival is underway. Some 3,700 cherry trees, given to America by the Japanese in 1912, will soon be in full bloom. I lived in the D.C. area nearly eight years and always looked forward to this time of year.
