COVID-19 is the top story for 2020

Thinking back on 2020 there was little need to study past editions. Starting in March and continuing through the year, COVID-19 was and is the predominate news. Chances are great the virus will be 2021’s top story because there seems to be no end to the misery and disruption in lives from COVID-19.

Church Point Police officer resigns

A probationary Church Point Police officer has resigned following his arrest in connection with a domestic violence incident on Christmas Day. Rasiem Alexis Fredericks, 27, of Opelousas, was arrested by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office on a charge of domestic abuse battery child endangerment.

John Irving Reed

John Irving Reed died at Ochsner’s Medical Center in New Orleans on December 29, 2020. He was 76 years old. John, the son of Dr. B. Rodney Reed and Marion Irving Reed, was born in Eunice on November 25, 1944. A graduate of Eunice High School Class of 1962, he received his B.S.
