The Eunice News will honor area veterans in a special edition to be published Nov. 8. Veterans Day is observed on Nov. 11. This is the second year for the tribute to veterans. Veterans may update or add information to previously submitted material.

Barn mural honors barefoot Cajun dad

The Smith barn on La. 758 is getting a fresh coat of paint, but it isn’t the usual job. Eunice artist Hannah Gumbo has been working the past three weeks on a barn mural depicting the life of Calvin Smith.

Paul F. Young Jr.

Paul F. Young Jr., 64, died on October 5, 2020. Son of Paul Floyd Young and Helena Miranda Young, he was born on October 28, 1955 in Fall River, Massachusetts, later moving to Church Point, Louisiana. He is survived by his six children: Brian, Kevin, Colin, Caitlin, Liam, and Aidan.
