Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Chapel in Crowley for Monte William Hoffpauer, 64, who passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 12:46 a.m. at Calcutta House in Lafayette. Rev. Christie Brammer will officiate the service.

Unrestrained motorist killed in head-on collision in St. Landry Parish

On Saturday, shortly after 2 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on Louisiana Highway 358 near its intersection with Louisiana Highway 357. The crash claimed the life of 38-year-old Alex Chavis of Church Point.

Soccer registration is now open The Eunice Rec Soccer Program is a Co-Ed program, open to youth 4-14 years of age. Participant registration is $45. Registration continues until Aug. 22. Season dates are from Sept. 15 through Oct.
