Bagging lunches

Restoring God’s Glory Ministries is part of the summer feeding program for kids. Ready to heat hot lunches, along with milk, juice and a snack are available through Aug. 5 at the Southeast Neighborhood Center, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. For more information call 337-230-6206.

Parish Council eyes new position

The St. Landry Parish Council is consider creating an administrative assistant position at a $70,000 to $80,000 annual salary. The agenda item for Wednesday’s meeting comes after Richard Lucito announced he resigning in his role as a part-time administrator.

School Board’s $2.5M deficit is ‘worst case scenario’

A $2.5 million deficit in the next St. Landry Parish School Board budget is a “worst case scenario,” according to Tressa Miller, finance director. The deficit is the change in the school system’s beginning balance of $21.6 million and an ending balance of $19 million.

Liberty Theater to remain closed

The Liberty Theater is to remain closed even as the city reopens and it has nothing to do with CLOVID-19. Mayor Scott Fontenot said the Liberty Theater is in need of a new air conditioner, which cost up to $300,000.
