Farmers’ Market reopens

The Eunice Farmers’ Market opened Wednesday and will continue to be open from 8 a.m. until noon, Wednesday and Saturday. Available on Wednesday during the Farmers Market were fresh garden grown cucumbers, large and small sizes, small yellow squash and potted plants.

City’s reopening hit some glitches

Golfing that had resumed at the Eunice Country Club had to be suspended for a week after a tournament was followed by a couple cases of COVID-19. The reopening and shutdown is one of the few glitches in the city’s emergence from the coronavirus shutdown that started in March.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Office reports arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. June 4 Vincent L. Landry, Jr., 32, 100 block of N. Napoleon Street, Opelousas. Domestic abuse battery (strangulation) (child endangerment). Arrested by St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Grandson arrested in double homicide

Investigators with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office have arrested Detrick Guillory, 21 of Basile, in the deaths of John Guillory and Lois Guillory, both 71, of Richard, who were found deceased on May 18 at their residence on Noah Daigle Road.

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. June 3 Elizabeth Dawn Cuevas, 47, 5800 block of Old Basile Hwy., Eunice. Issuing worthless check valued less than $1,000. Isaiah Alcin Thomas, 19, 1800 block of Amazon, Eunice. Theft of motor vehicle valued $5,000-$24,999.
