The following are excerpts from the Eunice Police Department radio dispatch logs. May 18 01:19 Caller in Dudley Street area advised that a subject on Dulles is screaming for help. 01:20 911 call came from 200 block of Dulles advised that a subject bit her on the feel and left.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Office reports arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. May 16-18: Edivaldo Herrera, 29, 100 block of Irene Street, Grand Coteau. DWI first offense, careless operation of a motor vehicle, no drivers license. Arrested by Opelousas Police.

Jenny Fontenot Richard

EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jenny Fontenot Richard announces her passing on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at the Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation of Port Allen at the age of 81. A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Joy Burke Cleveland

Joy Burke Cleveland passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 at the age of 71. No Services have been planned at this time. Joy was a Cajun fiddler who was on the Board of Directors of the CFMA. She was also the leader of the band called “Bayou de Caines Band”.

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. May 15 Willie Adolph Jones, 29, 200 block of Armide, Eunice. Simple battery, second degree battery. Christopher Mouton, 39, 100 block of Gum, Eunice. Theft, value less than $1,000. April Renee Bandy, 38, 1300 block of Ed Thibodeaux Road, Church Point.

Memorial Day event scheduled Monday There will be a Memorial Day observance ceremony in Eunice at 5 p.m. Monday, May 25 at the South 2nd Street Memorial Monument brick walkway and the Rotary Fountain.

Free lunch for elderly, vets, disabled at Southeast Center

Restoring God’s Glory Ministries is providing free lunches for the elderly, veterans and disabled from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Southeast Neighborhood Center, at 101 City Avenue in Eunice. Delivery is available also. For more information: call 337-230-6206.

Three O’Clock meal distribution continues at New Zion Baptist

The Three O’Clock Project meal distributions will be given out at New Zion Baptist Church every Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until noon until May 28. One box contains seven days of lunches and seven days of breakfast. The boxed meals includes frozen and healthy entrees.
