Arvie is arrested for alleged indecent behavior

A former Ville Platte city councilman who is a teacher at Opelousas Junior High School was arrested April 28 for alleged indecent behavior with a juvenile. Taranza Arvie, 57, was booked into the St.

Rogers Carrier

Rogers Carrier departed from this earthly life on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at St. Clare Manor Nursing Home of Baton Rouge at the age of 70. A Private Graveside Service will be held at St. Mathilda Cemetery on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 with Father Blaine Clement officiating.

LSU team studying effects of coronavirus on travel patterns

A number of metrics are being examined by experts to determine how successful, or unsuccessful, the nation’s response to the coronavirus pandemic has been thus far. For LSU Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor Brian Wolshon, that metric is traffic.

Poultry, livestock producers face economic challenges from coronavirus

The LSU AgCenter and the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation have drafted a request for federal aid for poultry producers, who are not included in the most recent farm aid package — but the request has been turned down. Poultry is the largest agricultural enterprise in Louisiana.

SLCC starting online notary exam prep class

South Louisiana Community College’s Corporate College will now offer an online Notary Exam Prep course in addition to the online hybrid/in-person course. The course will prepare students for the State’s Notary exam administered on Aug. 29.
