Gov. Edwards to extend stay at home order until May 15

Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced he will extend Louisiana’s Stay at Home order until May 15 to continue to slow the spread of COVID-19. Louisiana does not currently meet the White House criteria for entering Phase One of reopening.

Republicans link law changes to lower insurance rates

The biggest insurance companies, including State Farm, Allstate and GEICO, have announced temporary premium cuts and rebates of 15 to 25% for auto insurance customers in Louisiana since the coronavirus has kept drivers off the roads.

Drivers killed in head-on wreck in St. Landry Parish

A two-vehicle fatal crash on La. 182 near Annointing Drive St. Landry Parish claimed the life of 20-year-old Brashley Renee Chambers of Opelousas and 43-year-old Ramando Fredrico Royston of Opelousas. according to a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop I. The wrecked occurred about 10 p.m.

‘Gray area’ businesses may reopen under St. Landry Parish executive order

An executive order signed Monday by St. Landry Parish Government enacted a “Safe Shop” policy for “gray area” businesses in the parish to go into effect Tuesday. The order allows businesses that are not deemed essential or prohibited under the Gov. John Bel Edwards’ existing orders to reopen.

Walter Hebert Jr.

Walter Hebert, Jr. passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020 at the age of 85. A Private Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Carencro.

The following is an arrest by Eunice Police. April 24 Amanda Lynn Boyett, 19, 400 block of Corn, Eunice. Disturbing the peace. April 25 Jody Tovarras Thomas, 41, 100 block of DeVillier Road, Eunice. Disturbing the peace by intoxication.
