Kops & Kids camp scheduled in March in St. Landry Parish

The next girls only Kops & Kids hunting/fishing and camping adventure is scheduled for March 21 and 22. The camp is located in St. Landry Parish with sleeping accommodations and are chaperoned by full-time law enforcement officers.

Pardon saves Emile the Crawfish from hot pot

Emile the Crawfish was transported from his home in a pond near Kaplan to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Tuesday in a police car. He was brought to an area near Cypress Lake on campus in a wire mesh crawfish trap. He was plucked from the trap and deposited in a small aquarium.

Grand Réveil Acadien coming to Church Point

Church Point will serve as a venue for the Grand Réveil Acadien 2020 this fall, and the call is out for those who would like to participate in the event.

Fallen heroes honored

Three graduates of Charles Drew High School, who were killed in action during the Vietnam War, are memorialized with a monument unveiled Saturday. The monument, in front of Central Middle School, which was the Charles Drew school, honors Sgt. Charles Williams, Pfc. Jimmy Williams and Lance Cpl.

Eloise Fontenot LeJeune passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the age of 71. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 2:00 PM at St Anthony Catholic Church with Father Hampton Davis celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
