Reward offered for information on whooping crane shooting

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division agents are looking for leads regarding an endangered whooping crane that was shot in Jefferson Davis Parish in mid-November of 2019. The crane was found on Nov. 15, 2019, in Elton off of Elton Drive.

Bible-reading marathon coming to Opelousas

Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas and Fête-Dieu du Teche will hold the annual Bible Marathon in front of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 747 N. Union St. in Opelousas. The public Bible reading will begin at 12:30 p.m. Ash Wednesday, Feb. 26, and end at 4:30 p.m. March 1.

Eunice crime stats show arrests up, complaints down

Complaints to Eunice Police dipped slightly in 2019, but arrests were up, according to statistics released by the department this month. Police Chief Randy Fontenot said the lower number of complaints is a good sign.
