LSUE professional development courses offered

LSU Eunice’s Office of Continuing Education announced it would host several professional development courses in January and February. To register for any of the courses below, visit lsue.edu/continuinged/work. OHSA 10 Certification is Jan. 18 from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Office reports arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. January 4 - 6 Lee Allen Brown, 68, 1100 block of Highway 356, Sunset. DWI 1st offense, careless operation of a motor vehicle, driving under suspension. Arrested by Louisiana State Police.

Bulb & Blossom meeting set Tuesday The Eunice Bulb and Blossom Garden Club will hold its meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Donna Baltakis. A guest speaker will present a talk on “bees.” Food will be served. All members are asked to attend. Information, call 457-1510.

La. auditor questions contract enforcement with private contractors

The Louisiana Legislative Auditor says the state’s economic development department isn’t doing enough to monitor its agreements with private contractors. Louisiana Economic Development’s top official defended his agency’s monitoring process, suggesting auditor staff misunderstood how it works.
