A $12.7 million expansion of Savoie’s Sausage and Food Products’ food production facility in St. Landry Parish near Opelousas was announced by Gov. John Bel Edwards and President Frederick Lafleur on Thursday.
An audit report from Shirley Vigé Jr. is on the Eunice Board of Aldermen’s agenda for its 6:30 p.m. Tuesday meeting at the Eunice Municipal Complex.
The audit is for the fiscal year July 2018 to June 2019.
There was no discussion about the audit at the Board’s agenda meeting on Thursday.
The mood was festive as the St. Landry Parish School held its final regular meeting of the year Thursday.
For Eunice Board member Mary Ellen Donatto it was an opportunity to reflect on her year as School Board president.
Donatto retired as an award-winning principal at East Elementary.
An ordinance allowing precinct mergers was approved by the St. Landry Parish Administrative-Finance Committee at its meeting Wednesday.
Mike Hefner, of Geographic Planning & Demographic Services, said the ordinance is the first step in reapportionment that wil occur after the 2020 Census.
