Fight for super-majority in state House could be tight

Republicans have already secured a super-majority in the Louisiana Senate following the recent primary elections, but GOP diehards will have to wait until the Nov. 16 runoff elections are decided to learn whether the party has accomplished the same in the House of Representatives.

School Board finds little cheer in holiday bonus

The St. Landry Parish School Board will ask the attorney general to define how a 1% sales tax fund must be budgeted. The Board also may ask for a ruling from the Legislative Auditor. Mary Ellen Donatto, Board president, suggested the Board seek an interpretation of the tax language approved in 1999.

Eunice observing Halloween

The Halloween on South 2nd Street in Eunice will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today. Elsewhere in the city, trick-or-treat hours are 6 to 8 p.m. The downtown event includes booths where trick-or-treaters go from booth to booth collecting treats.

Arthur Pappillion III

Arthur Pappillion, III passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the age of 58. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Quirk and Son Funeral Home of Basile with Father Keenon Brown officiating. Burial will follow at St Joseph Cemetery in Elton, Louisiana.
