St. Landry Parish woman awarded Farm Bureau honor

By Kristen Oaks-White Louisiana Farm Bureau NEW ORLEANS — A St. Landry Parish sugarcane and cattle producer is this year’s Louisiana Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Outstanding Young Farm Woman.

Green energy accords signed

Agreements with green energy providers were approved in a special St. Landry Parish Energy Board meeting on June 25 in Opelousas. The Energy Board is comprised of Parish Council members. Similar agreements were approved in Acadia Parish last week and on Monday.

Fourth of July fireworks show returns to Rec Complex

As Kenneth Peart, former mayor and expert pyrotechnist, says every year, “It will be bigger and better!” Peart is talking about the Fourth of July fireworks to begin at 9 p.m. Friday at the Recreational Complex on Sittig Road.

Conceal carry permit class set for July 12 The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a one-day concealed carry permit training class beginning at 7:30 a.m. July 12 at 211 W. Park Ave. in Eunice. The course is $100 and $80 for a spouse or renewal.
