City’s wastewater plant cost soars

Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot got shocking news about its proposed wastewater treatment plant improvements. “We put it out for bid. It came back, and anticipating the project was going to be about $16.9 million. We had $17 (million). meaning funds available to start the project.

Parish Council selects Eunice News as its official journal

The St. Landry Parish Council selected The Eunice News as its official journal for the fiscal year starting July 1. The approval came without comment from the Council members. The Council received bids from The Eunice News and The Daily World for the official journal status.

Courthouse roofing suit settled

The St. Landry Parish Council approved a $150,000 settlement of the suit over a Courthouse roofing job that went bad.

First arrest announced in parish anti-litter effort

The first arrest in the “Stow It, Don’t Throw It” was made by St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz in a June 18 news release. George Harris Sr., 61, of the 1400 block of Veazie Road, Palmetto, is charged with gross littering, a misdemeanor. Guidroz stated that on May 16 the St.
