Eunice leaders start 
planning process

About 40 Eunice leaders began the process that may lead to a comprehensive plan for the city at a meeting at Acadian Medical Center, according to Bill Rodier, executive director of the St. Landry Parish Economic Development.

Mamou council hears plan for annual Veterans Day event

Charles Perdices, on behalf of the Mamou American Legion, addressed the Mamou Town Council Wednesday regarding plans for this year’s Veteran’s Day celebration at the Legion hall. Perdices commented the event will be “another two days like we did last year, but, hopefully, we can get a bigger crowd.

Lawsuit settled for nearly $50K over illegal arrests

A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit regarding illegal detainments by the Ville Platte Police Department and the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office. The six plaintiffs in the matter were awarded a total of $47,500 to share.

Police: Two teens caught with marijuana

Two teens were caught with marijuana after Morgan City police talked to them on Front Street, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release. —Dakota Voisin, 19, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:48 p.m.
