Gravel is OK for Smooth Ride Home

Gravel will do just fine for some parish roads and the Smooth Ride Home Program’s 2 percent sales tax will pay, but not if it is just for a couple of loads of gravel. That was the decision from Wednesday’s St. Landry Parish Council meeting in Opelousas.

Early voting begins Tuesday in Eunice

Early voting begins Tuesday for the Nov. 6 election. Voting continues from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Oct. 30 except Sunday, Oct. 28. Early voting will be held at the Eunice Municipal Complex on the first floor. The deadline to request an absentee by mail ballot is Nov. 2 by 4:30 p.m.

DOTD announces Evangeline Parish project

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that Beginning Oct. 29, construction will begin on a $5.4 million project on La. 95 from La. 104 to La. 29 in Evangeline Parish. The work is estimated to take place Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., weather permitting.
