The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Oct. 9 Lawrence Leger Jr., 53, 100 block of Beauxis Drive, Port Barre. Domestic abuse battery. Arrested by Port Barre Police. Dwight Andrew Chautin, 25, 100 block of Orchid Drive, Opelousas. Domestic abuse battery.

Joseph Harry Sonnier Jr.

Joseph Harry Sonnier Jr. passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at the age of 69. No services have been scheduled at this time. A burial will be held at a later date at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Mallet.

The Atchafalaya was just a trickle

The Take Back the Night event had to move indoors due to rain on Oct. 1 to the Eunice Municipal Complex. The event is held by St. Landry St. Landry-Evangeline Sexual Assault Center. It was the seventh annual march and vigil in Eunice.

Bergeron named at State Bank & Trust

State Bank & Trust Company announced Jacob N. Bergeron is vice president city manager. Bergeron is a graduate of St. Edmund High School. He obtained his bachelor of business administration degree from McNeese State University. He has been in the banking industry for eight years.
