Lawsuits entangle pipeline project

A flurry of lawsuits filed locally in the 16th Judicial District Court have the potential of delaying the completion of the controversial Bayou Bridge Pipeline project that runs through the southern portion of Upper St. Martin Parish.

LaSuCa mill expanding

The LaSuCa sugar mill at St. John is anything but quiet during this off-season. Along with the usual repair and maintenance required between grinding seasons, the mill is swarming with workers bringing about the first phase of a multi-year expansion in the historic mill’s capacity.

Tunica-Biloxi Tribal Council raises minimum wage for tribal enterprises employees

The minimum wage at all Tunica-Biloxi enterprises, including Paragon Casino Resort, was raised to $8.50 an hour by the Tribal Council on Wednesday (Aug. 1) and will go into effect this coming Monday (Aug. 6). The state minimum wage is $7.25 per hour.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office arrests

The following is an arrest by Eunice Police. Aug. 2 Brett Garrett Manuel, 38, 100 block of Country Club Drive, Eunice. General speed law (conditions and hazards) and second offense operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty show in limbo

The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment. The show is in limbo for Saturday after lightning knocked out the fire alarm panel. Repairs are under way but may not ocurr in time for Saturday’s show.

Allegiance Health Management (AHM) has finalized the purchase of three hospitals in Louisiana from subsidiaries of Tennessee-based LifePoint Health: — Mercy Regional Medical Center of Ville Platte. — Acadian Medical Center (a campus of Mercy Regional) of Eunice. — Minden Medical Center of Minden.
