School Board Oks budget with $2M deficit

By Harlan Kirgan Editor OPELOUSAS — The St. Landry Parish School Board approved a budget that projects a $2 million general fund deficit that will erode the school system’s ending balance from $7 million to about $5 million. The 2018-2019 budget was approved on a voice vote at a meeting Thursday.

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. July 13 Andrea Shermone Grismore, 31, 100 block of Sarah Dr. Sunset. Domestic abuse battery; negligent injuring. Arrested by Sunset Police Dept. Billy James Dupre, 60, 200 block of Longwood Dr., Opelousas.

Eunice Police Arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. July 12 Shawn Arnaud, 42, 100 block of Acadia, Eunice. Criminal damage to property, criminal trespassing, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. David W. Guillory, 500 block of E. Vine St., Eunice.

Willius George Reed passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the age of 82. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018, at 11:00 AM. at Quirk and Son Funeral Home in Basile. Deacon Gary Gaudin will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
