No headlight traffic stop ends with multiple drug charges

A Leonville woman driving a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner at the 2100 block of West Landry Street near Opelousas at about 8:49 p.m. May 2 was stopped for driving at night without headlights. But it was not an ordinary traffic stop, according to a news release from St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

Barefoot Sunday at Unity Church of God There will be a Youth Ministry shoe drive, “Barefoot Sunday” from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, May 18 at Unity Church of God in Christ. The church is located at 1220 East Maple Avenue in Eunice. The public is invited to donate shoes.

LSUA honors Landreneau on newly unveiled Wall of Distinction

The Office of the Chancellor at Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA) recently unveiled the new LSUA Wall of Distinction in a special ceremony, naming retired Maj. Gen. Bennett C. Landreneau as its 2025 honoree.
The Eunice High School Concert Band, led by director Lamont Goodman, attended the District III Large Ensemble Assessment at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette on March 27.  Sixty-six bands from seven Acadiana parishes attended this year’s event, where bands performed prepared music, as well as music never seen before, in front of a panel of judges.
