Hardy Memorial in Abbeville honors fallen officers

Dozens gathered at the Abbeville Police Department Friday morning to honor those who have lost their lives in the line of duty as part of the annual John “Dooley” Hardy Memorial. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Hardy’s death.

UPDATE: The three victims have been identified as Howard Claiborne, Gregory Troy Gray and Troy Harmon. Two are in critical condition; one is in stable condition. Three men were injured, one critically, this evening following a shooting on DeJean Circle near the parish jail in Crowley.

Evangeline Parish Police Jury approves 2018 budget; grants additional pay raises

A contentious discussion broke during a second special meeting of the Evangeline Parish Police Jury Wednesday afternoon as the jury adopted the budget for 2018. The main item of contention was an additional pay raise for three employees of the office staff as well as the secretary-treasurer.

Police: Suspect’s blood alcohol content nearly triple legal limit

A 57-year-old Houma man was arrested in Morgan City on a DWI second offense charge after registering a blood alcohol content of nearly three times the legal limit, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release. —Todd J. Gautreaux, 57, of Vicari Street in Houma, was arrested at 3:57 p.m.

New judge takes oath
