Gov. Landry orders executive branch hiring freeze for La.

Gov. Jeff Landry has enacted a hiring freeze for the executive branch of state government in an effort to save $20 million ahead of a projected state budget shortfall.

Musician Cedric Watson to lead Zydeco Capital Jam

Cedric Watson, a four-time Grammy nominee, leads the next Zydeco Capital Jam from 1 to 3 p.m. April 12 at the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center at I-49 exit 23 in Opelousas. Admission is free to the jam, open to musicians of all skill levels and fans.
