Free child car seat installation Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laure Ave., Eunice. The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

A tale of two hospitals: Hospital district to be dissolved to clear way for French Immersion Campus

A hospital district that includes portions of St. Landry and St. Martin parishes is to be dissolved with the assets split between the parishes. An agreement to make the split was approved Wednesday by the St. Landry Parish Council to the delight of a crowd of Arnaudville residents.

Church Point man arrested in Texas, charged with residential burglary

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators, with the assistance of Dayton, Texas Police, have arrested a Church Point man for one count of burglary, according to Sheriff K.P. Gibson. Investigators were investigating a burglary which occurred on Gayle Drive in Church Point.

Former Ville Platte Police detective sentenced for role in burglary

Former Ville Platte Detective Nathaniel Savoy was sentenced to 18 months in prison in November 2016 for falsifying a police report to cover up his own involvement in a “conspiracy to burglarize” a local Ville Platte business.
