Eunice, parish sales tax revenues end year down

Eunice sales tax revenue was down 1 percent and total St. Landry Parish sales tax revenue was down 2.2 percent in 2016, according to the St. Landry Parish School Board Sales Tax Division. Eunice sales tax revenue for the year was $5,198,606, down from $5,257,499 in 2015. Eunice revenues were down 6.

Eunice Police warn of vehicle burglaries

A string of vehicle attacks on vehicles in Eunice have occurred in the past three to four weeks, according to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot.

School Board elects president

Randy Wagley, an Opelousas attorney, was selected president of the St. Landry Parish School Board, but board members stalled on picking a vice president. Wagley was elected on a unanimous vote at Thursday’s board meeting in Opelousas.

Eunice mom, acquaintance accused of abusing 35-year-old woman

Two Eunice women have been charged with aggravated battery of a 35-year-old woman, according to Acadia Parish Sheriff KP Gibson. One of the women charged, Sarah Montet, 57, is the mother of the victim, Gibson said. The person arrested is Brances Guillory, 45, also of Eunice.
