Mary Isa Fontenot Darbonne passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the age of 91. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Keenan Brown Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.

An energy industry researcher says, despite both praise and criticism of President Joe Biden’s executive order banning offshore drilling in huge swaths off much of the nation’s coastline, the measure will likely have no near-term impact on oil and gas exploration.

Ordinance to guide parish boards

Serving on a parish board is more than attending meetings and voting. It also requires following laws governing how meetings are to be conducted and keeping records. The St. Landry Parish Council is developing an ordinance setting up guidelines for the boards and their members.
