St. Landry Parish early vote up 8.8% over 4 years ago

Early voting in St. Landry Parish ended with an. 8.8% increase over the final tally in 2020 when another presidential race was on the ballot. The early vote count total was 14,775 on Tuesday, up 1,200 from 13,575 in November 2020.

Eunice political, civic, business leader “Jack” Burson dies

Isaac “Jack” Jackson Burson Jr., who served as Eunice alderman at-large from Jan. 1, 1995, to Dec. 31, 2018, died Monday. He was 85 years old.

Unrestrained occupants killed, injured in separate overnight crashes

Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a two-vehicle hit-and-run fatality crash on Interstate 10 West just east of La. 343 in Lafayette Parish just before 1 a.m. Monday. The crash claimed the life of 38-year-old Ashley Campbell of Temple, Texas.

Motorist killed in fiery Evangeline Parish single-vehicle crash

Louisiana State Police Troop I troopers were notified a single-vehicle fatality crash on La. 95 near Brangus Road just before 9 p.m. Oct. 24. The driver’s name is being withheld until the next of kin has been notified.

Gerald Joseph Matt, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the age of 67. No Services have been planned at this time.

Opelousas man convicted of second-degree murder

A St. Landry Parish jury returned a unanimous verdict on Oct. 25 finding Jaleel Malik Durisseau guilty for the second-degree murder of Corey Rosette Jr. On Feb.14, 2022, Rosette was found dead in his home on Nicole Lane in Opelousas from apparent gunshot wounds.
