Tips sought about business burglary

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a commercial burglary that occurred at a local business on Industrial Drive, west of Rayne. This incident occurred sometime between the evening of Aug. 9 and early morning hours of Aug.10. Unknown suspect(s) made entry into the business.

Orthopedic surgeon is calling Eunice home

A new orthopedic surgeon has joined the surgical team at Acadian Medical Center. Dr. Stuart Schexnayder, an orthopedic surgeon, was the guest speaker Wednesday at the Eunice Rotary Club meeting. Schexnayder will be joining in private practice with Dr. Michael Holland, an orthopedic surgeon.

Eunice Police join Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign

Eunice Police Lt. Ryan Young announced the department is joining the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. Young announced the Eunice Police are joining the enforcement effort during Tuesday’s Mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting.

Mayor urges safety as school resumes

The first full days of school returned last week and Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot took time during the city council meeting to remind motorists that schools are back in session.

School Board approves student, facility study

The St. Landry Parish School Board approved several studies by a demographer to determine what the school district may look like in five years. Superintendent Milton Batiste recomended the Board approve the studies to provide information to adjust grade levels and facilities.
