EMTL fall registration set The Eunice Men’s Tennis League (EMTL) will begin its 2024 fall season league on Aug. 19. Registration is underway through Aug. 12 at the law office of Terry Hoychick, 141 South 6th, Eunice. Dues are $30. Captains’ meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Aug. 12 at Hoychick’s office.

Tips sought about burglaries

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office and Crime Stoppers needs help with solving multiple burglaries in the Lewisburg area. On July 1, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a burglary complaint at 211 Tony Road in the Lewisburg area.

Ranger announces August Eunice, Lafayette programs

The Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice and Acadian Cultural Center in Lafayette are holding five special events in August. Junior Ranger Summer Series, 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, Washington Recreational Center, 705 S. Bridge St., Washington.

St. Landry Crime Stoppers honors law enforcement’s top performers

St. Landry Crime Stoppers announced the winners of Officer Of The Year Awards on July 25. St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz spoke about their professionalism in their departments and to the citizens of the parish.

Rayne High School teacher earns state’s top teacher honor

The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) celebrated some of the state’s most outstanding teachers and leaders at the 18th Annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Awards Gala.
Moosa Memorial Hospital is fast disappearing as demolitions continues. The building was vacant since 2006 and in June St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard announced parish government would do the work. Bellard estimated the building is about 80,000 square feet.
