Out of control state spending

Sometimes, you just want to roll down your car window and let out a scream. No, not because someone is passing you in road rage. The kind of wrath I’m talking about is the outrageous spending that takes place in many agencies of Louisiana state government. Here is what has gotten my dander up.

House kills non-unanimous jury bill

The House voted 48-38 to kill a bill Thursday that would have created an avenue of hope for prisoners who were convicted by non-unanimous juries before the U.S. Supreme Court outlawed the practice.

Survey: 17% of Louisiana residents lost home insurance last year

Seventeen percent of Louisiana residents say insurance companies canceled their homeowner’s policies last year, according to an LSU survey released Tuesday. And a majority of residents polled say insurance rates are on the rise and are higher than in other states.

Fallen remembered here on Memorial Day

Those who gave their all in service to the nation were honored and remembered in a service on Memorial Day in Eunice. “The day is about them. We will say their names,” said Donnie Fontenot, VFW Post 8971 commander. “The whole day is about remembering them,” he said.
