The following are arrests by Eunice Police. April 28 Juvenile, 15, Eunice. Violations of controlled dangerous substance, unlawful sale/purchase of tabacco under 18, prohibition against the use of tobacco in schools, possession of marijuana, 14 grams or less.

Jude Richard Bird

Jude Richard Bird, 76, from Eunice, passed away on April 12, 2023 in Phayao, Thailand after a lengthy illness. Jude was a graduate of St. Edmund High School class of 1964, and received his bachelor’s of science degree from USL and a masters degree from LSU.

EUNICE–The family of Joyce Moreau Deshotels announces her passing on Saturday, April 29, 2023, in the comfort of her home with loving family by her side. She was 89. A Graveside Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. April 29-May 1 Dan Charles, 54, 300 block of Henry Drive, Opelousas. DWI 1st offense, careless operation of a motor vehicle, open alcoholic container. Arrested by Louisiana State Police.

Bicyclist sStruck and killed in hit-and-run crash in St. Landry Parish

Shortly after 3:15 p.m., on April 30, troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I were notified of a hit-and-run crash involving a bicyclist that occurred in the 2600 block of Louisiana Highway 93 in the Sunset area. The crash claimed the life of 59-year-old Randy Thibodeaux of Sunset.

Dorsey John Thibodeaux

Dorsey John Thibodeaux passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the age of 89. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Father Ed Duhon Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
