KRVS general manager Devall hits the ground running

The addition of 75 people to KRVS 88.7 FM’s membership during a recent 10-day donation drive is music to the ears of Cheryl Devall, who became KRVS’ general manager in April. The drive also brought in more than $43,000. That’s important.
During July, August and September, the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office Litter Abatement Crew worked about 18 days each month picking up litter throughout Acadia Parish. The crew picked up 794 bags of trash and 199 tires. LSU Eunice Dean of Students Dr. Kyle Smith was awarded the Outstanding Two-Year College Administrator of the Year by the Louisiana Association of College & University Student Personnel Administrators (LACUSPA), it was recently announced.

New Hope Fellowship annexation approved

Annexation of about 26 acres on Sittig Road that includes New Hope Fellowship was approved at Tuesday’s Eunice Board of Aldermen meeting. The ordinance was approved without comment.

St. Landry Parish sales tax revenues up 4.7%

St. Landry Parish sales tax revenues through September were up 4.7% compared to the same period in 2021, according to statistics released by the St. Landry Parish School Board tax division. The first nine month total of $67,827,502 is up $3,179,100 over the same period in 2021.

Patience asked for garbage situation

Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot said garbage collection is the hottest topic in Eunice right now as he introduced Richard LeBouef, executive director of the St. Landry Parish Solid Waste Commission, at Tuesday’s Board of Aldermen meeting. “No transition is easy,” LeBouef said.

The 3rd Court of Circuit Court of Appeal rejected John D. Pastorick’s appeal of his conviction for attempted manslaughter. The facts of the case stated that at about 2 a.m. on May 29, 2017, Pastorick shot 17-year-old K.W., who was spending the night with Pastorick’s 16-year-old granddaughter, E.C.
