Burn ban declared for St. Landry Parish

St. Landry Parish Government has issued a burn ban in the parish effective today. The ban includes anything with an open flame that produces an ember. The wind can carry floating embers away from the original fire and start a spot fire.

Eunice Junior High School is experiencing electrical issues and will be closed today and Wednesday to resolve the issues, according to a notice from the St. Landry Parish School Board.

2nd arrest made in fentanyl drug death

A second arrest has been made in the overdose death of a 17-year-old Eunice man. Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot reported Donna G. Granger, 42, of 100 block of E. Ardoin St., Eunice, was arrested Sept. 30 and charged with second-degree murder.
