Bulb & Blossom meeting set Tuesday The Eunice Bulb and Blossom Garden Club will hold a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday with a social and business meeting. The meeting will be held at Jacquelyn Love’s home at 1351 Clanton in Eunice. Members are asked to save plastic milk cartons for an upcoming craft.

Eunice High’s special education takes on a fundraiser project at the Renaissance Cafe

Eunice High’s special education department has undertaken a new fundraising project for the 2022-2023 school year by running a student-led Community Coffee cafe in the school’s Pierre Martel Renaissance Cafe. Students are served from 7 to 7:30 a.m.

Prairie tour

About 20 people toured the Eunice Prairie on Saturday morning as part of the Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation Society’s summer meeting. The group edged its way around the prairie’s perimeter led by Steve Nevitt, a former Society president.

School Board asked to OK enrollment projection

By Harlan Kirgan Editor The St. Landry Parish School Board will be asked to approve a five-year student population projection report at today’s meeting.

Arrest made in Lewis St. shooting

An 18-year-old Eunice man has been arrested in connection with a shooting in the 700 block of Lewis Street on Aug. 23. Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot identified the man as Roy Guillory Jr., of the 100 block of Townhome Drive. The shooting occurred at about 11 a.m.

Police: Gas thefts total nearly $60K

A Basile man is accused of stealing nearly $60,000 worth of gasoline since March. Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot declined to name the victim of the theft. Charged on Aug. 25 was Nicholas Lejeune, 40, of the 3200 block of Stagg Avenue, Basile. He was originally charged with theft over $25,000.
