A Church Point man was sentenced to five years at hard labor after pleading guilty to negligent homicide in connection to a 2020 murder in Church Point. Nicholas Wayne Ardoin, 20, of Church Point, was set to stand trial on Aug. 15 in connection with the Nov.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has taken its place among the nation’s top 100 public research universities. Dr. Joseph Savoie, UL Lafayette president, made the announcement Wednesday during the annual State of the University address.
