Generating buzz: UL Lafayette earns Bee Campus USA designation

UL Lafayette recently became a Bee Campus USA. The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation coordinates the national program. It recognizes colleges and universities for their commitment to providing and improving habitat for pollinators and providing service-learning opportunities for students.
This year marks the 63rd anniversary of the death of Charlene Richard, the “Little Cajun Saint,” and the anniversary mass was Aug. 11 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard. There was a festive air at the Eunice Community Garden on Friday as the Second Harvest Makin’ Groceries Mobile Market was open for business and a crowd was present. Randy Miller, Community Garden director, said about 200 people attended the open house around noon.
