The St. Landry Parish School Board moved forward with Esser projects planned through 2024 and possibly longer at a meeting Thursday in Opelousas. The Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund projects are grouped by high school attendance zones and total $44.4 million.

There are about 5,000 veterans in St. Landry Parish and a former state Veterans of Foreign Wars commander suggested some of them would make excellent security guards for school.
