Eunice woman arrested in connect to double homicide

Lorraine M. Guillory, 36, of the 200 block of Acadia Street, Eunice, was arrested June 17 in connection with the double homicide that occurred on East Maple Avenue in Eunice on June 16, according to Police Chief Randy Fontenot in a news release.

Unrestrained Gueydan man dies in Vermilion Parish crash

On Monday, shortly before 5 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to a two-vehicle crash on La. 14 near Odilon Road in Vermilion Parish. The crash claimed the life of 63-year-old Walter R. Meyer of Gueydan. The preliminary investigation revealed Meyer was driving east on La.

State jobless rate dips to 4%

Preliminary data released Monday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that Louisiana’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has tied the 2nd lowest rate in series history. The May 2022 rate of 4% hasn’t been seen since December 2007.

The body of former LSUE basketball player Everette Jackson was found about 2 miles downstream from where he was last seen tubing on the Payette River. The Gem County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday in a press release that a volunteer located Jackson’s body.

Dr. Charles “Charlie” Bollich, PhD., 95, of Beaumont, died Thursday, June 16, 2022. He was born on September 9, 1926, in Mowata, Louisiana, to Edna Boudreaux and Anthony Bollich. Charlie served in the United States Navy during World War II.
