Sales tax revenues increase

St. Landry Parish sales tax revenues through March were up 8.9% over the same period in 2021, according to St. Landry Parish School Board tax division. The parish total was $21,467,714, which is up $1,751,839 over the January to March collections in 2021.

Tri-Parish workforce increases; jobless rates are down

The Tri-Parish workforce increased by 1.2% or 831 to 67,348 in February, according to data released Monday by the Louisiana Workforce Commission. Tri-Parish jobless rates in February were down from the previous January and from a year ago.

A 25-year-old Honduran man died when the 2010 Honda Civic he was driving collided head-on with a party bus on U.S. 167 near Earl Deville Road at about 8 p.m. Friday, according to Turkey Creek Police. According to a news release, Jose Villanueva Civic was southbound on U.S.
