Man arrested for rape nearly 2 years ago

An Arnaudville man was arrested for second-degree rape, two counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and video voyeurism. According to a news release from St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. A juvenile reported on Jan. 28 to sheriff’s detectives that she was raped in July 2020.

Edwards to let public health emergency expire

Just over two years after the first COVID death in Louisiana, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced Monday that the public health emergency will expire on Wednesday, crediting the availability of vaccines, antivirals and quality masks.

Tourism director cites increased visitors

The St. Landry Parish Tourism Commission Visitors Center counted 3,776 visitors in 2021, 25% increase over the 2020 count, according to annual report by Herman Fuselier, executive director. As Fuselier stated, the 2021 increase is over the 2020 year noted for COVID-19 and hurricanes.

Concealed carry weapon permit class set Saturday The St Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a 1-day concealed carry permit training class beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday on March 19. The location is at 211 West Park Eunice, The course is $100 dollars and $80 for a spouse or renewal.
